At half-time of SBA's Homecoming game against Wayne, two special presentations were made honoring SBA Graduate and Ole Miss Standout Cody Prewitt. On behalf of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools, Mr. David Drake presented a plaque recognizing Cody as the First player from the MAIS to be selected as a Consensus All- American. Jamie Holder, SBA Board President, along with Chad Odom, SBA Athletic Director, presented Cody with a framed jersey, announcing the retirement of his SBA number, 25.
While at Sylva-Bay, in just his senior year, Cody had 1762 all purpose yards, 25 Touchdowns, MAIS All State Selection and MAIS South All-Star Player, Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen Selection, The Jackson Touchdown Club player of the Week, District MVP Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year. Class A Track 100 meter record 10.83, Overall Class Track 200 meter record, 21.56 and Overall Class Track Triple Jump record 46 feet 4 inches.
Currently for 2014, Cody is Pre-Season 1st Team All-American, consensus preseason All SEC 1st team, rated the nations #1 Safety by lindy’s, named to the watch list for the Bednarik Award, CFPA Defensive Back Trophy and the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List. In 2013, Cody was selected first team All-American by Associated Press, USA Today, and Lindy’s. Cody was the 55th 1st Team All-American selection in school history. He was voted to the All SEC 1st Team by the Associated Press, League Coaches, Sporting News, ESPN.com and College Sports Madness. He was ranked the #20 player in the SEC by ESPN.com. He is a Thorpe Award semi finalist and played in every game with 11 starts as Free Safety. Cody led the SEC and finished tied 7th nationally with 6 interceptions. As a sophomore, in 2012 he was named College Football News All America Honorable Mention, Finished 2nd on the team with 80 tackles, His freshman season in 2012; he played in all 12 games with 4 starts as free safety.
